• Walmart announced the hiring of Allyson Park as the company's new SVP and chief communications officer. Park has most recently served as Yum Brands’ chief corporate affairs officer, and before that was Global Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Strategic Initiatives at Mars Wrigley.
• Ahold Delhaize USA announced that John Ruane has been named president of The Giant Co. Ruane has been serving as interim president since the departure almost a year ago of Nicholas Bertram. Before that, Ruane was Giant's SVP and Chief Merchandising Officer.
A quick note here - people I know who know John Ruane think he's terrific, and will sustain and even grow The Giant Co.'s position as a jewel in the organization.
• Starbucks announced yesterday that Arthur Valdez, who served as EVP and Chief Supply Chain and Logistics Officer at Target until his retirement last year, has joined the company as Executive Vice President, Global Supply and Customer Solutions.
