The Bergen Record reports that state officials are saying that “a month after Topps Meat Co. issued a nationwide recall for potentially tainted frozen hamburger meat, 138 boxes of the product remained for sale this week” at small grocery stores and c-stores throughout Hudson County – in Union City, Jersey City, North Bergen, and West New York.

According to the Record, state investigators continue to visit stores throughout the state to see if the problem is widespread.

More than 21 million pounds of beef were recalled by Topps, which subsequently went out of business.

KC's View:
This is unconscionable. It is unforgivable. And it is enough – and ought to be enough - to destroy a retailer that has not done its job in getting this stuff off the shelves.
