Business First of Louisville reports that Spartan plans to start selling pet insurance pans in its stores, starting with 35 of its Family Fare and D&W Fresh Market locations. The plans are being offered in conjunction with PetFirst Healthcare LLC.
According to the story, “PetFirst will reimburse up to 90 percent of a pet owner's veterinary expenses, including routine care such as annual exams, vaccinations, flea control and spay/neuter services, as well as surgeries, x-rays or hospitalization that result from illness or injury.
“The company offers three tiers of coverage: basic, preferred and preferred-plus.
“The basic tier's annual benefit is $4,500 with a premium cost of $24.95 per month for one animal. The preferred tier's annual benefit is $9,000 with a premium cost of $35.95 per month. And the preferred-plus tier has a $12,000 annual benefit with a premium cost of $49.95 per month.”
