The Sacramento Business Journal reports that in Northern California, Raley’s and Save Mart “have reached tentative agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers union on a new four-year contract that would affect 25,000 workers in nearly 300 locations throughout Northern California.” The deal still needs to be ratified by the companies’ unionized employees.
While details were not available, spokesmen for the UFCW said they had achieved their goals, which included “substantial wage increases, better medical benefits with no employee-paid premiums, protected pension benefits and no concessions.”
