business news in context, analysis with attitude

• Out of Australia comes news that Archie Norman, the former CEO at Asda in the UK, has signed on as deputy chairman to help Wesfarmers turn around the Coles business that it is in the process of acquiring.

“Archie will be available as deputy chairman of that board to influence the way we go about improving the results from the most financially significant part of Coles," said Richard Goyder, managing director at Wesfarmers. "Archie's great retail expertise in leading the team that so successfully turned around Asda will make a tremendous contribution before and after we embark on that task."
