Albany’s Business Review reports that Price Chopper Supermarkets has begun celebrating its 75th birthday, having grown from a single store opened in the 1930s by Russian immigrant Lewis Golub to a chain operating has 116 stores in six states, generating more than $3 billion in annual sales.

According to the story, “The company has developed a 75th anniversary logo that will be used in the store as well as in television and print advertising. The campaign will continue through Nov. 10.”

The continued success and growth of a company like Price Chopper gives me hope and faith in the future of the industry. Walk a Price Chopper with CEO Neil Golub, and you see a man treated like a rock star…and the Golub family strikes me as one that never rests on its laurels.
