The Winnipeg Sun reports that the Manitoba Legislative Assembly will consider a bill that would ban the use of single-use plastic shopping bags. If the bill passes, the province would be following the lead of one local community – Leaf Rapids – that banned the bags earlier this year.

This is going to be seen more and more in communities around the world, and it is interesting to see that in Canada the legislation could be passed at the provincial level, which would seem to be a lot more sweeping.

The momentum for this trend, I think, is picking up.
