Bill Walsh, the former coach of the San Francisco 49ers who guided the team to three Super Bowl championships, died yesterday at age 75 … which happened to be the same day that Ingmar Bergman, the acclaimed Swedish film director of classics such as “Cries and Whispers,” died at age 89 …which happened to be the day after Tom Snyder, who used to host the late night show “Tomorrow” on NBC during the seventies, died of leukemia complications at age 71.

I wonder how many times before now Walsh’s, Bergman’s, and Snyder’s names have been used in the same sentence…
One thing is sure, though. Snyder would have been equally comfortable interviewing Walsh and Bergman, and would have gotten each of them to say something surprising and revealing.
