• Coca-Cola has named a new marketing chief to replace Mary Minnick, who, the Wall Street journal notes, left the company earlier this year after being passed over for the number two job at Coke.
Joseph V. Tripodi is scheduled to begin in the marketing job in September, bringing with him marketing experience garnered at companies that include MasterCard and Allstate. According to the Journal, Tripodi “will lead a new effort to step up Coke's involvement in an area that is garnering a lot of attention on Madison Avenue these days: marketing and advertising in stores, where consumers make most of their purchase decisions. As chief marketing and commercial officer, Mr. Tripodi will oversee both the company's global marketing and global customer groups, putting him in charge of store advertising programs with big retailers like Wal-Mart Stores Inc.”
