• The Wall Street Journal this morning reports that PepsiCo, concerned about slowing sales of its Gatorade sports drink, “plans this fall to introduce a new low-calorie beverage with electrolytes that will be marketed to athletes as a non-workout drink. Pepsi also plans at the same time to introduce a new version of its Propel fitness water with nutrients, and relaunch its SoBe LifeWater, an enhanced-water beverage.”

• ConAgra said yesterday that it has acquired Alexia Foods, a leading brand of natural frozen potato products, natural and organic appetizers and artisan breads. Terms of the deal were not disclosed; ConAgra said it would leave Alexia’s management team in place.
