Carrefour, the world’s second largest retailer, has been hit with a fine that is the equivalent of $2.69 million (US) by a French regional court, which found the company guilty of false advertising, collusion with suppliers, and selling items below cost.
Carrefour released a statement saying it was surprised by the severity of the fine, and said that it planned to appeal.
