• Coca-Cola Co. reportedly will spend $20 million to fund conservation projects for seven of the world’s major rivers, including the Rio Grande and the Danube. According to reports, Coke also is working on revamping its bottling operations so it can make up for the some 76 billion gallons of water used each year to make its carbonated soft drink products.

• The Wall Street Journal this morning reports that General Mills will begin increasing its cereal prices by shrinking its package sizes: “By reducing the size of its cereal boxes, General Mills will be selling less for more. The new, smaller boxes will mean a low single-digit percentage increase in the price per ounce of such well-known cereal brands as Cheerios, Wheaties and Total…The cereal giant is the latest packaged food company to boost prices at a time when commodity costs are rising.”
