business news in context, analysis with attitude

We’re happy to report that Bin 36 – the Chicago wine bar and restaurant – has been nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award for “best wine service.”

Bin 36 is just one nominee - in some 62 categories – nominated to honor the nation’s best chefs, restaurateurs, cookbook authors, and other standout personalities and institutions in the food business. Winners will be announced May 7 at a gala in New York that will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the foundation, which is named James Beard, one of the pioneers of American cuisine.
KC's View:
We were particularly thrilled to learn of the Bin 36 nomination because it has long been a regular and favorite stop for us every time we go to Chicago…in fact, we mentioned it just last Friday in our “OffBeat” column. For the past four years, during the annual Food Marketing Institute (FMI) show there, we’ve hosted a little wine party at Bin 36 for members of the MNB community…and we’ll be doing the same thing this year. (In fact, we’ve already been getting inquiries about it, which warms our heart.)

If you’re coming to the FMI Show, mark Sunday, May 6, from 6-7:30 on your calendars. As usual, we will be hanging out at the Bin 36 bar…and if any members of the MNB community would like to stop by, say hello, and chat for a bit…well, the first couple of bottles of wine will be on us. It’ll be a great opportunity for all of us to put faces and voices with the names and words that appear on MNB plus an excuse to drink good wine. (Not that we need an excuse…)

And there will be a special guest appearance this year – for the first time, Mrs. Content Guy will be joining us!

Bin 36 is located at 339 N Dearborn on the west side of Marina City, between the river and Kinzie.

We’ll see you in Chicago.
