The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, part of Louisiana State University, has published a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism saying that eating less and exercising more are equally good ways of losing weight – and that one approach is not inherently better than the other.
"It's all about the calories," said Dr. Eric Ravussin, one of the study’s authors. "So long as the energy deficit is the same, body weight, fat weight, and abdominal fat will all decrease in the same way."
The study also concluded that while diet and exercise are equally effective in losing weight, doing both is better than doing one or the other.
