Published reports say that the federal government, in the form of the Tax and Trade Bureau of the Alcohol and Tobacco unit of the US Department of the Treasury, is proposing that wine bottles should carry a warning that the product contains milk, eggs and fish – ingredients that, in fact, are used in the winemaking process.
The government says that consumers with allergies to such items need to be warned about their use in wine, though the Wine Institute says there are no known cases of people with such allergies having a reaction after drinking wine.
