• Tesco has named James Condon, formerly head of global marketing for the George fashion line at Wal-Mart’s Asda Group, to be its head of brand communications and trade planning.
Condon succeeds Ian Crook, who became Tesco’s market director last year when Simon Unwins moved to the US to take on the identical role with Tesco’s west coast operation.
• The Street reports this morning that David Bernauer, the chairman of Walgreen Co., will relinquish his executive duties at the company while remaining as chairman of the board.
President/CEO Jeffrey Rein will continue in those roles and will take on Bernauer's executive responsibilities, according to the report.
