• NamNews reports that Sir Stuart Hampson, chairman of the John Lewis Partnership that owns Waitrose, is retiring after 14 years in the job. He is slated to be succeeded by Charlie Mayfield, currently managing director and head of its department stores division.
The regime change is effective in March 2007, and takes place despite the fact that Hampson said just last month that he had no plans to retire.
