Published reports say that Wal-Mart is opening a new hypermarket format in Brazil that caters specifically to women shoppers, who constitute 80 percent of its customers. In addition to a new decor package, the store also organizes departments into “worlds” of HBC, organics, and other segments.

One interesting innovation – a “husband parking zone,” where men can go to have something to drink and read a newspaper or magazine while their female companions do the shopping.

We love this last idea…and think that all shopping venues catering to women ought to adapt it. We can’t tell you how many times Mrs. Content Guy has dragged us into stores over the years where all we wanted was a comfortable chair, a magazine that we’re actually interested in, and maybe a TV switched to the ballgame…
