• There have been numerous press reports in the UK about an unfolding controversy about Tesco and accusations that the company sells clothing made by illegal underage workers in Bangladesh.
While the documentary is scheduled to be seen this week on British television, Tesco has responded to the charges, saying that it has found no evidence of the underage workers in its own inspections. The statement read, in part: “Our inspections are detailed and thorough, involving a combination of record checking and on site interviews with factory workers and we remain confident that they ensure all factories comply with the high ethical standards expected by our customers.”
