The Houston Business Journal reports that Kroger “is responding to the growing Hispanic consumer base by redesigning a west Houston store with upgraded features and Latin products, as well as a 75 percent bilingual Spanish staff.” The revamped store also will feature “an in-store tortilleria, an extended line of Goya food and spices, Gamesa cookies, Barrilitos soft drinks, South American breads and pastries and Moja cosmetics.”
The move comes as HE Butt opens a Mi Tienda (“My Store”) unit in Houston, suggesting that the Texas battle for the Hispanic shopping dollar is only going to get more competitive.
