• A report from comScore says that Tesco.com is by far the most popular online grocery site in the UK, capturing 66 percent of all online grocery orders, amounting to an average of 30,000 orders per day for total daily sales the equivalent of about $4.7 million (US). Tesco.com’s closest competitor is Asda, with a 16 percent market share, followed by Sainsbury, which has 14 percent.

Tesco.com’s top item by volume? Bananas. Consumers bought more than 11 million bananas in just the first seven months of 2006. By sales, Tesco.com’s top item was its private label toilet paper.
