The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports that electronics retailer Best Buy has decided to spin off its wholly-owned subsidiary “eq-life,” which was designed to help women use technology to manage their family’s health.

The company said it remains convinced that the concept is viable, if one sailing in uncharted waters, and said that the format would do better as an independent entity outside a corporate environment.

Two units currently are open; the original version has been closed.
