• Federated Department Stores announced that it will install a robotic vending machine in 180 Macy’s stores that will sell Apple iPod music players and accessories, allowing consumers to pay for them with credit cards, debit cards or Macy’s gift cards.
According to CEO Terry J. Lundgren, the vending machines allow the company to get back into the consumer electronics business with a minimum of cost and space. The chain plans to also offer vending machines containing Sony and Motorola products down the road.
