• The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reportedly has settled its dispute with Ingles Markets in which the company was accused with providing false information about vendor rebates and allowances. The settlement was reached without Ingles admitting any guilt or responsibility, though the SEC said that Ingles had "no meaningful" controls over how it booked vendor payments.

• Numerous published reports say that McDonald's has declared war on Wendy's, determining that Wendy's decision to get into the breakfast business as well as its superiority in the chicken sandwich business makes it the biggest threat facing the fast feeder.
