The Washington Post reports that Safeway is now opening all of its Washington, DC-area stores at 5 am, an hour earlier than it used to.
The reason? People seemed to be starting their days earlier and, according to company spokesman Greg TenEyck, were lining up early at the Starbucks coffee bars that Safeway has in about half its stores.
