The Chicago Sun-Times reports on an NPD Group study suggesting that contrary to convention wisdom suggesting that January is the biggest month for people to start dieting, coming as it does after the gluttony of the just-passed holiday season, March actually is a bigger month for dieting.

The reason: while people tend to eat too much during the end-of-year holidays, it is the proximity to the summer swimsuit season in March that makes people really think about diet and exercise.

Seems to us that this is sort of an important thing to know if you’re planning a diet-themed promotion.

Just another example of how conventional wisdom isn’t always wise.
