• The bankruptcy judge overseeing Winn-Dixie’s financial affairs has approved the retailer’s request for a 90-day extension to file its reorganization plan. That request had been opposed by the retailer’s creditors, which wanted just a 30-day extension.

• IGA announced that in 2006 it will initiate a trio of marketing events in honor of the organization’s 80th year as an independent grocery banner.

The events will not just reward consumers for their patronage of IGA stores, but also build in incentives for the retailers engaged in the program.

Among the manufacturers sponsoring the 80th year events: Campbell Soup Company, The Coca-Cola Company, ConAgra Foods, Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Kraft Foods, Nabisco, Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, Nestlé USA, The J.M. Smucker Company, the WM. Wrigley Jr. Company, and Unilever.
