ABC reports that the US government has decided to relax the ban on poultry imports from mainland British Columbia, a ban that was put into place after there was a discovery on November 18 of a single case of bird flu in a duck from the province.

It has been established that the bird flu is not the strain that has killed dozens of people in Asia.

However, more than 58,000 ducks and geese on two farms were destroyed after the discovery of the bird flu. And USDA says that a ban will remain on ducks and geese from farms within a three mile radius of where the original case was identified.
