- Wal-Mart Stores reported that October said total sales rose 10.5 percent to $23.26 billion, with same-store sales up 4.3 percent.
- Target Corp. reported that October sales were up 11.6 percent over a year ago, to $3.69 billion. Same-store sales were up 5.7 percent.
- BJ’s Wholesale Club reported that its October sales were up 7.5 percent over a year ago, to $588.3 million. Same-store sales for the month were up 2.9 percent.
- Ruddick Corporation reported that fiscal 2005 total sales at Harris Teeter were $2.64 billion or 2.8% percent higher than annual sales a year earlier. Same-store sales for the year were up three percent.
- CVS reported that third quarter sales were up 13 percent to $8.97 billion from $7.91 billion during the same period a year ago. Earnings for the quarter were $249.2 million, up from $181 million a year ago.
- Longs Drug Stores Corp. reported that total sales for October were $341.6 million, up 2.2 percent from $334.3 million last year. Same-store sales were up 1.6 percent.
- Sara Lee Corp. reported first quarter profit of $67 million, compared with $352 million a year earlier, blaming restructuring and higher costs for the drop in profit. Sales fell 2.1 percent to $4.31 billion.
