The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Coppola Companies – owned by famed movie director/producer Francis Ford Coppola – is buying the Sonoma Valley’s Foster’s Wine Estates.

“The winery purchase will enable it to further separate its estate and non-estate wines,” according to the Chronicle. “The Niebaum Coppola Estate Vineyards & Winery on Highway 29 in Rutherford will be renamed Rubicon Estate Winery, and will focus on super-premium estate wines only.”

Coppola's new winery will be the new home for the Diamond Series, Rosso and Bianco wines. In addition, the Coppola wine producers will develop a new line of wines focusing on Sonoma County grapes.
KC's View:
We think that anything that adds to the popularity and success of Coppola’s efforts is a good thing. We love his wines, love his vineyards, and stand in awe of his talent.

We just wish he’d make more movies.
