- Drug Store News reports that CVS is said to be interested “in acquiring Albertsons’ 695 Sav-on and Osco drug stores if they’re made available as a separate piece of the supermarket chain.” It is particularly interested in Albertsons’ Southern California operations.
- A new trade organization called the Online Retail Alliance (ORA) has been formed by a number of associations and organizations that includes the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA), eBay, Inc., InterActiveCorp., ShopNBC and the Home Shopping Network (HSN). The goal of the new association will be to “serve as the collective voice for multi-channel marketers facing web-related legislative and technological issues.”
