- Walgreen reported that its total September sales increased 10.9 percent to $3.51 billion from $3.17 billion a year ago. Pharmacy sales accounted for 65.2 percent of total sales, and same-store sales were up 7.7 percent – not including stores closed by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
- Rite Aid Corp. reported total September sales that were up 0.4 percent to $1.27 billion from $1.26 billion a year ago. Same-store sales were up 1.1 percent.
