- BJ’s Wholesale Club reported that its second quarter net income was up to $30.5 million from $28 million during the same period a year ago. Sales for the quarter were up 7.7 percent to $1.98 billion, from $1.84 billion a year ago – with same store sales up 3.2 percent.
- Unified Western Grocers reported third quarter net income of $2.5 million, up 9.5 percent from the same period a year ago. Sales for the quarter fell 0.8 percent to $715.4 million. Year-to-date, net income was up 56.3 percent to $8.6 million, and sales were up 5.2 percent to $2.1 billion.
- Longs Drug Stores said that its said second-quarter net income ballooned to $16.8 million, from $3.4 million during the same period a year ago. Sales rose to $1.16 billion from $1.15 billion, with same-store sales up 0.3 percent.
