  • Wal-Mart reported that its second quarter net sales were $76.8 billion, an increase of 10.2 percent over the second quarter of fiscal 2005. Net income for the quarter was $2.8 billion, an increase of 5.8 percent from $2.7 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2005.

    Net sales for the six months ended July 31, 2005, were $147.7 billion, an increase of 9.8 percent over the first six months of fiscal 2005. Net income for the six months ended July 31, 2005, increased 9.3 percent to a record $5.3 billion, up from $4.8 billion in the same prior year period.
