  • Published reports say that Delhaize-owned Food Lion has acquired a half-dozen Winn-Dixie stores, one in Georgia and five in North Carolina. The company already has stores in each of the markets where it has acquired units from the bankrupt Winn-Dixie.

  • Publix Super Markets reportedly has settled a decade-old lawsuit that charged it with violating provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The company will pay $160,000 in attorneys’ fees and as much as $100,000 because of charges that its stores did not comply with legal requirements that they be accessible to people with wheelchairs and other handicaps.
