McDonald’s announced that it will roll out a line of Premium Chicken Sandwiches that will consist of whole breast meat chicken on deli rolls, larger than the chicken sandwiches currently sold by the fast feeder.
Three versions will be sold -- Classic, Ranch BLT and Club -- and customers will be able to buy crispy or grilled versions of each. The new sandwiches' prices will range from $3.29 to $3.89.
The sandwiches will begin being sold on August 2. The company seems to hope that the new products will both cater to people’s interest in healthier eating as well as improve its quality image in the long run. In addition, it is consistent with the fast food industry’s move toward chicken - about 25 percent of chicken consumed in the United States is eaten in fast-food restaurants, and about 30 percent of McDonald’s menu will now consist of chicken-oriented products.
