C-store chain 7-Eleven has opened a new 1,500 square foot store on East 23rd Street in Manhattan, marking the first time the company has a had a presence in Manhattan since 1982. A second unit is scheduled to open in the city later this year.
The celebration of the opening occurred as 7-Eleven celebrated the 40th birthday of the Slurpee, its iconic frozen drink by offering free samples of the product at stores around the country.
