Troubled doughnut retailer Krispy Kreme announced this morning that its board has decided that six unnamed company officers should be fired – a decision that was followed by the immediate resignation of five of the executives and the retirement of the sixth.
The six officers reportedly include four senior vice presidents and were in the areas of operations, finance, business development, and manufacturing and distribution. Krispy Kreme intends, for the time being, to fill these positions with existing personnel.
The company is the subject of both an internal and federal investigation into its accounting practices.
