The Orlando Sentinel reports that as Dollar General begins opening stores in the enormously competitive central Florida market, it will look to bolster its position by using its Dollar General Market format, adding “fresh produce, milk and deli meats to the chain's standard assortment of low-priced general merchandise.”

"The idea is one-stop shopping," Dollar General spokeswoman Tawn Earnest tells the Sentinel. "It appeals to the same shopper who is already attracted to Dollar General, but extends what that shopper can buy."

Dollar General plans to open 30 stores in central Florida, with the stated goal to target “underserved communities.”
