- Longs Drug Stores Corp. reported that its May total sales were $364.4 million, up slightly from $361.7 million a year ago. Same-store sales were up 0.4 percent.
- Smithfield Farms reported that its fourth quarter income fell to $85.4 million, from $122.7 million during the same period a year ago. Sales rose 16 percent to $2.92 billion from $2.52 billion last year.
For the full year, Smithfield earned $296.2 million, up from $227.1 million the year before. Annual sales increased to $11.35 billion from $9.27 billion last year.
