- Wal-Mart Stores is reporting that its October same-store sales are expected to be up 2.8 percent over the same month a year ago. The number would be slightly better than the 2.4 percent same-store sales increase reported in September.
- Target Stores is saying that its October same-store sales are expected to be near the high end projections that they would be up four-to-six percent.
- The Gillette Co. reported third quarter net sales that were up 12 percent over year-earlier totals to $2.69 billion. Third quarter net income was up 14 percent to $475 million. For the nine months, net sales grew 11 percent over year-earlier net sales to $7.37 billion, and net income was $1.28 billion, up 26 percent.
