- The US Ambassador to Canada, Paul Cellucci, told a Canadian newspaper this week that there is “light at the end of the tunnel” in the US ban on Canadian beef, and that the ban should be lifted within a few months.
The ban originally was imposed in May 2003 when a case of mad cow disease was identified north of the border.
- Buehler Foods reportedly will acquire 16 stores in Kentucky and Indiana from Winn-Dixie Stores. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The stores will be rebranded as Buehler’s Fresh Markets.
