- PepsiCo reported that its third quarter profit rose to $1.36 billion, up from $1.01 billion a year earlier. Fiscal third-quarter revenue climbed 6.3 percent to $7.26 billion from $6.83 billion a year earlier.
- Family Dollar Stores posted fourth quarter earnings of just under $43 million, down 9.9 percent from $47.7 million in the year-ago period. Quarterly sales were $1.32 billion, up from $1.21 billion at the same time a year ago.
The company said that a “difficult economic environment” hurt its performance.
For the full year, the company earned $262.7 million on sales of $5.28 billion, up from last year’s earnings of $247.5 million on sales of $4.75 billion.
