Two former US Foodservice executives - indicted for fraud and conspiracy related to the alleged inflating of manufacturer rebates in order to boost the company’s stock price - pleaded not guilty yesterday.

Former chief financial officer Michael Resnick and former chief marketing officer Mark Kaiser contend that they are being scapegoated for the Ahold-owned company’s financial problems.

However, they will have to deal with two other former US Foodservice executives who have plead guilty to similar charges and are cooperating with the government investigation.
