- Despite being under pressure from competitors such as Wal-Mart and Blockbuster, Netflix also seems to be under greater pressure to show stronger results – because it is raising its prices.
In email sent to its subscribers last Friday, the company announced that it will change its flat rates for unlimited monthly rentals to $21.99 (from $19.95) a month for three movies out at a time, $33.99 (from $29.95) for five movies out at a time, $49.99 (from $39.95) for eight movies at a time, and $14.99 (from $13.95) for two movies out at a time with a limit of four rentals a month.
The price changes take effect June 15.
