The Los Angeles Times reports that Sunkist Growers, the 110-year-old growers cooperative, will add "USA" to its labels.
The move to unilateral country-of-origin labeling (COOL) by Sunkist is seen as a way of heading off federal mandates in this area and proving that a voluntary system is preferable.

We have no problem with a voluntary system that is implemented across the board. The problem is with percentages. How many companies, and how many of the products on US supermarket shelves, will have such labeling if the government does not require it?
We're willing to be convinced. And surprised.
