- Spartan Stores reported that its third-quarter consolidated net sales increased 5.1 percent to $644.1 million, compared to $612.9 million in the same quarter last year. Third-quarter operating earnings were $6.1 million compared to an operating loss of $48.2 million in same period last year.
- Costco Wholesale Corp. said that total January 2004 sales reached $3.44 billion, up 16 percent from a year earlier. US sales rose 12 percent, and same store sales were up 13 percent.
