- Publix reportedly has launched new in-store sections, called "Publix GreenWise Market," devoted to natural and organic foods, environmentally-friendly paper products and health-related books and magazines. The selection cuts across all grocery categories, and includes both branded and private label items.
- The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) reportedly voted 82 percent in favor of a new contract that covers Sobeys' main warehouse and distribution center in Ontario, Canada. The union said the deal included a pay increase as well as improved pension and health benefits.
- The Los Angeles Times reports that Stater Bros. will spend an undisclosed amount to acquire Kroger's 50 percent ownership of the Santee Dairies, a company that it already owned half of.
Santee will continue to supply milk under the Knudsen and Foremost brands names to a number of Southern California chains, including Kroger's Ralphs and Stater Bros.
