The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Giant Eagle is laying off 115 management, administrative and clerical workers, most of them employed at headquarters, as part of a restructuring effort.
The company also announced that it will further reduce its 35,000-person workforce by not filling open positions, and will be more aggressive in its use of vendors and suppliers to cut costs and get more competitive with retailers such as Wal-Mart.
