business news in context, analysis with attitude

The Seattle Times reports this morning that Amazon.com is not using its traditional "Delight-O-Meter" on its site. For the past several holiday seasons, the meter kept an approximate running total of the items ordered on its retail sites worldwide.

For the moment, at least, it has been replaced by the 'Holiday A-List," on which celebrities offer gift recommendations and other content exclusive to Amazon.

This morning, for example, the celebrity du jour is Carmen Electra, who is described as an "actress and television host" and who offers fitness tips and recommends a set of DVDs entitled Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease Series.

The company isn’t saying whether the "Delight-O-Meter" is gone forever.
KC's View:
The real question here is why anyone would take any sort of recommendation from a woman who once married Dennis Rodman.
